EFFEN for Codex is a standalone plugin package that runs inside Codex-style workflows. It stores durable project state locally under .effen/ and ~/.effen/, then uses skills and MCP tools to preserve decisions, workflows, verification evidence, and handoff state across sessions.
.effen/ plus optional global ~/.effen/.Independent from OpenAI. Compatible with Codex-style workflows. EFFEN does not require Ollama, the legacy desktop app, or the old FastAPI app server for the paid customer path.
What EFFEN actually is
The current paid Early Access product is the EFFEN for Codex plugin. The legacy local app remains in the repo for archival/internal tooling, but it is not the customer install path.

The shipped package includes a .codex-plugin manifest, EFFEN skills, an MCP server, local scripts, screenshots, and a customer manual.
Local project memory
EFFEN writes project memory, evidence, run cards, lifecycle events, audit records, snapshots, and search indexes under the active project instead of pretending chat history is durable state.
Local dashboard
EFFEN can start a project-scoped dashboard on 127.0.0.1 for run cards, memory, lifecycle, Git, audit, search, and setup views.
