EFFEN.ai

Standalone Codex plugin

EFFEN.ai

Project-scoped memory and run cards for Codex-style AI development work.

EFFEN for Codex is a standalone plugin package that runs inside Codex-style workflows. It stores durable project state locally under .effen/ and ~/.effen/, then uses skills and MCP tools to preserve decisions, workflows, verification evidence, and handoff state across sessions.

What it is notNot an OpenAI product, not a model, not the old desktop app.

Independent from OpenAI. Compatible with Codex-style workflows. EFFEN does not require Ollama, the legacy desktop app, or the old FastAPI app server for the paid customer path.

What EFFEN actually is

The current paid Early Access product is the EFFEN for Codex plugin. The legacy local app remains in the repo for archival/internal tooling, but it is not the customer install path.

Plugin-only customer path

The shipped package includes a .codex-plugin manifest, EFFEN skills, an MCP server, local scripts, screenshots, and a customer manual.

Local project memory

EFFEN writes project memory, evidence, run cards, lifecycle events, audit records, snapshots, and search indexes under the active project instead of pretending chat history is durable state.

Local dashboard

EFFEN can start a project-scoped dashboard on 127.0.0.1 for run cards, memory, lifecycle, Git, audit, search, and setup views.

What it does

EFFEN gives Codex-style work a durable operating layer: what changed, what was decided, what was risky, what was verified, and what should happen next.

Preserves project memory

Captures facts, decisions, blockers, risks, and next steps that usually disappear into old chat threads.

Structures repeatable work

Turns recurring launch, deploy, review, support, Git/PR, and handoff routines into reusable local workflows.

Creates clean handoffs

Gives the next session a resume brief and run card instead of forcing you to re-explain the repo.

Keeps evidence close

Records command evidence, changed files, verification status, audit events, and safe secret-scan results without returning secret values.

How it fits into a Codex-style workflow

Start

Load project memory and the current run card.

Work

Capture decisions, edits, blockers, commands, and verification.

Handoff

Write the resume brief, evidence summary, and next actions.

Resume

Start the next session with real project state.

What Early Access users get

Early Access is for developers who already use AI coding agents on real repos and want the workflow state around those sessions to survive.

EFFEN for Codex package

Versioned plugin ZIP with install instructions, customer manual, skills, MCP server, local dashboard scripts, and support docs.

Subscription license

Stripe-backed license activation, download fulfillment, onboarding intake, and support follow-up from EFFEN.ai.

Setup guidance

Help connecting EFFEN to the first real project, selecting the right capture level, and validating that the run card and dashboard are project-bound.

Early Access

Get the EFFEN for Codex plugin package, subscription license activation, onboarding intake, setup guidance, and direct feedback while the product is hardened around real projects.

EFFEN.ai is independent from OpenAI. It is compatible with Codex-style workflows, but it is not created, endorsed, or sponsored by OpenAI. EFFEN is a workflow and memory layer, not a replacement model.
